Living in the Present ...

Another day, another cycle. Here, then gone, back tomorrow. Gone again. The cycle does not end. It has been here since the beginning of time. It will remain until the end of time. We live in between those times. Life is to be lived. We are not here to simply exist. Life, to be fully felt and experienced, must be lived in the present. The secret is the present. The now. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve on it. And if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better. Each day in itself, brings with it its own finality. What is today will not be tomorrow. The moment is to be lived now, not wasted by worry, by fear, by the pressures of tomorrow. Enjoy the moment. In it you will discover its beauty, a beauty that cannot be seen or felt if you miss the moment.


Living in the present is being aware. Aware of what you are thinking. Aware of what you know and believe. And then living this out. I believe certain things; To look for the best in people even when they see the worst in me; To be grateful for every day and greet it with a smile; To believe I could do or be anything I put my mind to if I were willing to make the requisite effort; That in the end ... love and kindness will always prevail over cruelty and hate.


If you find yourself in a difficult place, remember, you were born into life not death. Find some strength to live. Open your heart, your eyes, your ears, to the world that surrounds you. Now. In this present moment. Stop. Listen. Look. Beyond feeling. Beyond thoughts. Beyond the turbulent ride of circumstance. Understand, God relishes surprise. We want lives of simplicity, lives that are smooth and predictably easy. God allows twists and turns. Ascents and descents. Predicaments that seem to defy our endurance and exceed our comprehension. Yet they don't, and we survive. The challenges we face strengthen our faith and grant measures of joy we would not find elsewhere. In this, we find fulfillment. So own what you know and believe. Live it out in the present. Live your moments. Seize your destiny.


Human destiny is not shaped by mere chance or circumstance. Our history, our lives, will always be the sum total of our choices ... choices we make each day. Our destiny is not determined by forces beyond our control. Destiny is not a matter of chance, it is a matter of choice. So choose the moment. Live today. In the present. In turn, we who think of ourselves as ordinary will find within ourselves the ability to do something extraordinary.
